Does anyone know where in or around London I can get a good job in 2d (cartoon) animation.? I'm a graduate in Digital animation. I'm working on a 2nd showreel because my first one wasn't that good. I work for Framestore-cfc in Soho (Golden compass, Harry Potter) but nothing to do with animation. I can use Maya, Flash, Toon Boom, Anime studio, After effects, Illustrator, Premiere, Photoshop and can draw freehand. Everywhere I look for a job seems to have vacancies for all type of 3d animators but hardly anything for 2d. I can use Maya for cartoon type projects (not photo-realistic) but excel in the 2d programs and feel that it will take me more than a couple of years (time which I don't have) to reach the level of some of the people at work in Maya. My dream would be to work for kids' cartoons but don't know where to start. I may be moving to Canada in a few years and would like to take some experience with me where it seems the options in this field are much wider. How would you feel if Americans were allowed to work in Mexico or Canada without restrictions? Let's say everyone in North America had the right to freely travel and compete for jobs based on merit. Would your support that? I, for one, would love to live and work in Canada but I'm not allowed too because I am American. They have protectionist legislation; if an aspiring Canadian can become a movie star in the U.S.A. wouldn't be fair to let an aspiring American work their way up the ranks in Canada or any other country? We Americans are constantly giving away our jobs to foreign nationals without filling the vacancies first with our own citizens. Shouldn't there be a treaty from the other countries to let our ex-patriots have a shot at the careers that they want? I would not give illegals a break until their home countries allowed our citizens the same rights and privileges that they are demanding from us. If I was allowed to seek employment in other countries then I would be much more sympathetic to their cause.

If you want to work in New Zealand, Canada or Australia, what do you have to do to actually get hired directly by an employer? I'm a Graphic Artist and have submitted a thousand applications, but no one seems to be interested when you're overseas! I've even tried other jobs. I know my skills may somtimes be quite far from what I am applying for, however I have great flexibility. I can easily adapt to various working conditions. But still, their not interested when you're overseas! Why?

plzzz suggest me ,regarding networking? Hi all. Im a indian student and im planning to go to Canada to study MEng. in Networking. Now this is a 1 year program and its cost is expensive. But anyhow im very much interested to study this. I like Canada very much and I prefer to study and work over there. How easy is it to get a job in America? I have been a restaurant/bar manager for 7 years now and relatively well qualified. I want to know roughly what position I need to be in financially and how "easy" it would be for me to find work in the US or Canada in a similar role for 1-3 years and depending on how well it goes, maybe longer? If it helps I have an Aunt and 3 cousins all over 21 that already live in the US.
